Delivering fiber-like speeds with Mimosa's point-to-point and point-to-multipoint solutions.
Jaime Fink Inducted into Inaugural Wi-Fi NOW Hall of Fame
Last week, Jaime hopped on a plane to Washington for three days of action at Wi-Fi NOW. In addition to meeting with many customers and presenting a keynote on the role of wireless in delivering high-speed internet, Jaime came home with a very special award commemorating his induction into the inaugural Wi-Fi NOW Hall of Fame.
The Wi-Fi NOW Hall of Fame was created by the event’s organizers to honor and show gratitude towards individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the Wi-Fi industry.
Jaime was inducted for his work at Mimosa, where he led development of MicroPoP and GigaPoP solutions that allow service providers to deliver fiber-fast speeds in rural, suburban, and urban environments. Wi-Fi is dependent on great broadband infrastructure—94% of the internet goes over it—and because of that, what Mimosa is doing to accelerate better broadband, together with Wi-Fi which is what people think of as “the internet”, go hand-in-hand. Jaime has been a tireless advocate for the industry, working with industry bodies, congressional and senate members and the FCC, to ensure that the best interests of wireless service providers are represented. This work has culminated in Jaime being selected by the FCC as a member of the Broadband Deployment Advisory Committee.
Jaime was previously CTO of 2Wire where he was instrumental in introducing Wi-Fi home gateways to the industry, which is now the defacto way people access Wi-Fi from their ISPs. He also pioneered delivering IP services to the home over Fiber and xDSL. Jaime also created “Zero Touch” self-installation, bringing DSL to the mass market and authored Broadband Forum TR-124 Broadband Residential Gateway functional requirements, standardizing how service gateways are deployed globally today.
In addition, Jaime was also a key figure in driving the wildly successful Broadband Forum TR-069 management standard used throughout the broadband industry on over 350 million devices, streamlining broadband and home service delivery and advanced customer support operations. He began his career working at Polycom, quickly joining the product ranks to manage the world-renowned SoundStation, and the industry’s first web-based conferencing and collaboration products.
Jaime celebrated the occasion along with one other inductee, Dr. Michael Marcus, Director of Marcus Spectrum Solutions LLC. Michael is experienced in both wireless technology and the practical aspects of spectrum policy through almost 25 years at FCC, exchange posting at its Japanese counterpart, and consulting for the European Commission on spectrum issues.
Congratulations to Jaime and Michael!
