Loop Internet Blasts Mimosa Ultra-Fast Broadband to Pennsylvania Subscribers

In the midst of a career transition and with nothing to lose, Hacken immediately resolved to improve broadband connectivity in his hometown, and leveraged his tech background, supportive parents and a few credit cards to kick off the new venture.

Fast forward two years, and Loop Internet has a waiting list to join his growing network of over 500 business and residential customers. Hacken credits much of the demand to word of mouth, with happy customers excited to refer friends to the local wireless ISP. One business customer was ready to leave town before signing up with Loop Internet. Now, receiving service four times faster than their previous solution at less than half the cost, they are happy to stay. Another customer running nightly backups of their engineering files was able to slash their backup time from an entire day to under 30 minutes.

Using a hybrid-fiber-wireless architecture, Loop Internet exclusively deploys Mimosa’s wireless broadband solutions in a signature MicroPoP model – two synchronized Mimosa A5c access devices collocated at a single hub, supporting multiple Mimosa C5 client devices, all located within 1km from the access point. Loop Internet also services numerous multi-dwelling unit (MDU) properties with point-to-point backhaul devices including the Mimosa B11, B5 and B5-Lite radios.

In the Pennsylvania market, Loop Internet offers three fixed wireless plans – Fast 50/50 for $69, Superfast 100/100 for $89 and Hyper 200/200 for $109. In addition to the original Wilkes-Barre location, Hacken has expanded to offer business and residential service in Scranton, PA and has plans to grow to Pittston, PA and Brooklyn, NY. Regardless of location, Hacken relies on Mimosa solutions to deliver a return on investment anywhere between 5-8 months.

The ever-changing competitive landscape has kept Hacken on his toes. “When we first created Loop Internet, competitive ISPs were only offering upload speeds of between 1-2 Mbps,” said Hacken. “They have since upped their offerings to 10 Mbps upload, but thanks to our Mimosa architecture, we have been able to blow them out of the water with upload speeds of 200 Mbps using our A5c/C5 gear and over 400 Mbps using our C5cs.”
